Return to the Starless Sea is a giant all-new module consisting of both a zero-level funnel and a 1st level adventure. Run originally as the 2022 Gen Con DCC Tournament, the adventure can be played as an at-home tournament, but also serves as a sequel to DCC #67 Sailors on the Starless Sea or to launch a brand new DCC RPG campaign.

Journey Back to the Starless Sea!

Long ago, a horde of lowly gongfarmers entered the Chaos Lords’ keep to end an ominous threat, but left their task unfinished. Now, a new cohort of would-be adventurers must complete what was left undone. To do so, they must breach the murderous walls of the Screaming Keep, stop a soul-stealing incantation, defeat terrible vine horrors, and make their way tot he ziggurat at the hear of the Chaos Crater.

But their trials don’t end there. These lowly gongfarmers, now newly minted heroes, have to travel back in time to stop the nefarious, Chaos Lords’ plans before they can even begin, facing off against dragons, proto-beastmen, and a “baby” leviathan hungry for their souls.

A Level-0 Adventure for DCC RPG!

Designed for use with the Dungeon Crawl Classics role-playing game, Return to the Starless Sea takes the PCs from 0 level to level 1 in a fast-paced journey back to where it all began. Originally run as the 2022 Gen Con tournament, Return to the Starless Sea is the perfect way to start a new DCC RPG campaign. Just don’t inadvertently kill any of your ancestors in the process!

Tournament Style Play at Home!

Return to the Starless Sea was a competitive, scored, two-round tournament adventure originally run at Gen Con 2022, where round 1 is a level 0 funnel and teams of five players throw their zeroes against the horrors of the keep, and the highest-scoring teams graduate to 1st-level heroes and advance to round 2.

This adventure contains all of the information that both the Judge and the players need emulate the tournament structure. Including full information on scoring the adventure so that you can compare your team’s efforts against the winners of the actual event.
